CLEAR BONDAGE TAPE

Taking its title from materials sourced online, Clear Bondage Tape (2025) is a mixed-media installation, incorporating sound, moving image and sculpture. Entering the space the viewer is transported to the often-bizarre world of motherhood, where a phone, nestled amongst dirty washing shows a female body being wrapped and restricted. Filmed at home on the artists i-phone, the strangeness of the moving images, both sexual and non-sexual, alongside materials taken from the domestic, the online and the oppressive sound of bondage tape on flesh, challenge the viewer to question what it means to exist simultaneously, both physically and mentally, in contradictory territories: a sexual entity and carer, desired and depended on, stretched and broken.
